The Mission board of the Free Church – generation-mission.org – organises a monthly prayer schedule for the congregations across our denomination for each week of each month we are asked to pray for specific congregations and their various needs and thanksgivings. We will try and keep you updated on our website of the congregations to be praying for each week. For week beginning 15th Aug your congregations to remember before the Lord are:

Nairn Minister: Murdo Macleod

Nairn has a population of 10,000 or so, and is situated about 17 miles east of Inverness, which makes it a popular commuter town. It’s also a popular holiday resort, boasting beautiful golf-courses, leisure facilities and long, sandy beaches. Along with other churches in the town, we know the needs for locals and tourists alike goes much deeper, and we long to see many people coming to saving faith in Christ.

Prayer Points:

  1. Pray for wisdom as we seek to continue our gospel outreach endeavours with old, young, schools and community into our post-pandemic town.
  2. We’ve been encouraged greatly by a few new faces appearing in church since we’ve re-opened – we seek God’s Spirit to encourage both new and familiar friends, helping us all to grow in faith and grace together.

Glasgow City Minister: Colin Dow

We are a city centre congregation with a very wide catchment area covering the whole of the city and beyond. Our ministry to students, both national and international, has been adversely affected by the pandemic. The congregation and Presbytery have benefitted from Phil and Wendy Stogner’s time with us helping with church planting and we look forward to being joined this month by another MTW couple from the States, Nate and Erin Taylor, who will help with discipleship programmes

Prayer Points:

  1. Pray for Rev. Duncan Murchison who has been appointed as church planter for Hope Community Church, Helensburgh. He will be inducted in September. Give thanks that accommodation has been found in the town for Duncan and Lydia. Pray for Stephen Strong, one of our members, as he begins his studies at ETS in September.
  2. Pray for wisdom for the office bearers as they continue the search for alternative premises. The physical condition of the church building we have rented and worshipped in for 50 years is increasingly becoming unfit for purpose.

Here are all the congregations we will be focusing on for prayer across the month of August
