The Mission board of the Free Church – generation-mission.org – organises a monthly prayer schedule for the congregations across our denomination for each week of each month we are asked to pray for specific congregations and their various needs and thanksgivings. We will try and keep you updated on our website of the congregations to be praying for each week. For week beginning 22nd Aug your congregations to remember before the Lord are:
Thurso & North Coast Minister: Vacant (Interim Moderator: Howard Stone)
We are a small congregation in the rural town of Thurso, which has a population of 9000. We also seek to minister to those along the north coast as far as Bettyhill, 30 miles west of Thurso. Around 20 people currently attend services each Sunday morning in the church, while our evening & midweek meetings are online. We have been vacant since January, and are currently in the process of producing a development plan before calling a minister. Like many churches we are facing various challenges at the moment, but we trust God’s goodness and provision to sustain and strengthen us.
Prayer Points:
- Please pray for wisdom for the leaders in the congregation as they seek God’s will and vision for the town of Thurso. We would love to see the church grow by people coming to faith in Jesus, and we hope that this plan for the coming years will help prepare us for growth.
- Please pray that God would prepare someone to take up the charge of ministering here, so the current vacancy would soon be filled. Please also pray for encouragement of the members of the congregation, that we would rely on God’s faithfulness at this time.
Murray River (PEI Eastern Charge) Interim Minister: Peter Aiken
We are a city centre congregation with a very wide catchment area covering the whole of the city and beyond. Our ministry Prince Edward Island Free Church (PEIFC), located in North-East Canada, has several different charges. Murray River is a municipality in the South East of the island and the congregation comes under the Eastern Charge of PEIFC. The municipality has a population of around 300.
Prayer Points:
- Please pray that God would give wisdom to the church leaders as they minister to the church in this time of vacancy.
- Pray that the congregation would be community marked by love for one another and that this would lead members of the community in Charlottetown to come to know Jesus as their Saviour.
Here are all the congregations we will be focusing on for prayer across the month of August
