On Wednesday at our midweek meeting we will be looking at study 9 in Promises Kept. Simply log on to our usual Zoom ID at 7.30pm and you will be put into a regional city group breakout room based on where you live in Glasgow – or if you are a visitor from further afield you can join us in the main session.
Tonight we are looking at – Study 9: In a Perfect World Jesus’ Return (Acts 1-2)
The story so far: God’s Spirit lives in his people, enabling them to tell other people about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. The mission of God’s people today is to be devoted to each other and to tell people the truth about his Son throughout his world.
Look forward to seeing you all tonight!
“We tell you the good news,” he said. “What God promised our ancestors, he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus”
Paul (Acts 13:32-33)
In many ways, in these two sentences Paul was summing up the story of the whole of the Bible. Our God is a promise-making God. Throughout history, he has made extravagant, wonderful promises to humanity. And, crucially, God is also a promise-keeping God. What he says, he does.
Over the course of 9 sessions in our home groups we will be taking a rapid tour of the Bible story of what God promised and how he kept those promises. We won’t look at everything that happened in the bible but in clear manageable, memorable steps we will reflect on the past, our present and look to the future.
We will be using this book by Carl Laferton produced by The Good Book Company. If you need to get a copy of the book get in touch with the church office (dowanvale@gmail.com) and we will provide you with one.
