The Mission board of the Free Church – generation-mission.org – organises a monthly prayer schedule for the congregations across our denomination for each week of each month we are asked to pray for specific congregations and their various needs and thanksgivings. We will try and keep you updated on our website of the congregations to be praying for each week. For week beginning 4th July your congregations to remember before the Lord are:
Leith Elder Memorial Minister: Colin Macleod
The highest local population density in Edinburgh (and Scotland) is the Leith Walk area, with a peak of nearly 26,000 people resident within an 800 metre radius (12,900 persons per sq.km!). Affluence and poverty exist beside each other. This vast population is as diverse as anywhere in the UK. The needs are many the workers are few.
Prayer Points:
- For 2 families to join our fellowship and contribute to our work and witness.
- For grace and courage to be effective ambassadors for Christ in Leith.
Bonar Bridge & Lairg Minister: Ben Fiddian
While many of our congregations in the North of the Highlands are on the coast, Bonar Bridge and Lairg serves a large geographic area right in the centre. After a two and a half year vacancy, a new ministry has just commenced there with the induction of Rev Ben Fiddian at the end of June.
Prayer Points:
- Pray for Ben, his wife Hannah and their three children as they adjust to life in the Highlands. Pray that the children will settle quickly and make new friends, and that Ben & Hannah will be equipped by the Lord to serve the congregation.
- Pray that the congregation will be encouraged by this new ministry and that together they will serve the Lord in their community.
