The Mission board of the Free Church – generation-mission.org – organises a monthly prayer schedule for the congregations across our denomination for each week of each month we are asked to pray for specific congregations and their various needs and thanksgivings. We will try and keep you updated on our website of the congregations to be praying for each week. For week beginning 5th December your congregations to remember before the Lord are:
Poolewe & Aultbea – Minister: Dan Paterson
We are a rural congregation based around the shores of Loch Ewe. We have variety of ages and church backgrounds represented in our church. It is a loving, warm and welcoming congregation filled with people who love God.
Prayer Points:
- Our first prayer point is a note of thanksgiving. Our congregational life is flourishing after a season of not being able to meet together. We have been blessed with a renewed children’s ministry, woman’s ministry, mid-week gathering, and a strong desire to be together sharing God’s word. Our Sunday services have been blessed with a congregation consisting of every conceivable church background. As we gather together throughout the week, there is a strong sense of unity in Christ. Whilst we will always have prayer requests, we invite others to join us in thanking God for His goodness and showing our gratitude to Him.
- Please pray for those who are new to our church. We are in a season of growth, but we know that spiritual maturity is the goal of all believers. We are thankful that our new Sunday school programme has ballooned in size; however, that creates its own set of unique challenges. As such, we are asking God to continue raising up volunteers and leaders. As we live amongst the community, we pray he will use our friendships to reach our neighbours and colleagues. We are also praying that every church activity and service points others to their need of Him.
Greenock – Interim Moderator: Andy Longwe
Greenock is situated in west central Scotland. Greenock is the main town and the administrative centre of the Inverclyde region. The town of Greenock has a population of approximately 44,000. An average Sunday at Greenock Free Church sees between ten and twenty people in attendance. The prayer meeting is well attended relative to the size of the congregation.
Prayer Points:
- Give thanks to God for the congregation in Greenock. We are back in the building for in-person Sunday morning services and midweek prayer meetings. We are thankful to God for all the preachers who have come in recent months to fill our pulpit and lead our prayer times.
- Our big prayer request is that God would provide a minister of the Gospel to come and labour among us. Please pray for the community of Greenock, that the Lord would come in power to touch and change lives for His glory.
